When it comes to finding success in life our limiting beliefs can be one of the biggest challenges we face. They wall us in and continually place a ceiling on our potential.
Subconsciously, overtime we unknowingly strengthen them. Our success then looks farther away from us, on and on until we spiral down.
Here are somethings we can do to overcome negative beliefs :
1. Identify the Beliefs:
Observe the repeating beliefs that limit you, and write them down. When you know what the specific belief is, it becomes easier to overcome it.
2. Acknowledge the Beliefs:
At this point, you acknowledge how these beliefs have held you back from using your potentials or getting the kind of results you desire and deserve. Acknowledge the role you have played in making this happen.
3. Gather Evidence that Proves the beliefs to be false:
Every belief you have is as a result of some evidence you collected through your experiences, what you heard or what you saw others go through. You need to intentionally gather evidence that negates the limiting beliefs, no matter how small the evidence is.
4. Confront these Beliefs :
You can only win the battles you confront. Identify the new beliefs that you need to succeed. Then consciously confront the negative beliefs with these new beliefs until they become weak. If one of your belief is “I don’t deserve happiness because of xyz” , replace it with “I deserve happiness because of abc”
5. Seek Help:
Sometimes, we need the help of external forces or experts and professionals to help us get over these negative beliefs using relevant tools, strategies and methods.
These steps may not be a walk in the park, but with consistency and intentionality, you will overcome the negative beliefs.
